The Marketing Campaign For Your Life – Part 1
How we plan to promote what and who we are?
First you need to know just that. Who are you as a family? Who are you as a person? What are you as a family? What are you as a person? Using your Family Plan will help you answer these questions and become comfortable with those answers.
Everything you want to accomplish in this life will require a plan of action; even how you want to be viewed by others. How do you want to be viewed and seen by others? Over the next few weeks, we will present you with some tools and concepts to help you make plans that will lead you to becoming the you, you want others to see. Keep in mind, the person you are today may not even be close to what you want others to think of you. I totally understand that. Since you know where you want to be (future state) and you know where you are (current state), all you need is a map, a plan, that directs you from the current state to your desired future state.
The Thought or Concept:
Your family is truly a business and if you like being apart of a family, which you should, and if you like what your family stands for, which you should, then you should be interested in promoting it. It’s a bad feeling living a life that you are ashamed to promote, display, and be proud of. That’s what this section of the Family Plan is intended to help you accomplish. If you don’t like what you stand for and who you are, then you need to change it so that you can feel good about promoting who you are. Like every business that plans to be successful, you will have to market yourself. You’ll want to market what you do well and concentrate on what you have to offer others.
Let’s get started with an overview of what we have in store for you in this next section.
The Practice:
We have four major contributors that help us make marketing who were are easier. Here’s what we will be giving you over the next few weeks:
- Establish a vision statement. A vision statement is a statement that projects a future image of who you’re becoming. This statement can be a simple sentence or a document. At any rate, it’s for you and your family to keep your focus on who you wish to become. It has little to do with “the now” but everything to do with “the later.”
- Set and document your family’s goals. Family goals are important because they identify what you and your family will spend its lifetime doing. What will your family be known for? How will your family contribute to society? I know thinking like this sounds foreign. It’s not foreign, but it is uncommon.
- Set and document your family’s values. Values are vital. They give you and your family the boundaries and limits in which you can operate. Without values you will fall for anything and everything will get you off course. We use our nolongercommon.com five growth areas to define our family’s values in more detail. In other words, we have identified five key areas we wish to set boundaries, limits, and standards for our family.
- Be an agent of change by creating and using actionable “focus statements.” A focus statement is the smallest marketing component. It’s the action you plan to achieve within a year. It’s the stuff you can act upon daily. We have twelve we can share with you.
