We’re the Executives Of Our Life
Part 1 – Who Are The Decision Makers in Your Home?
If your life is a business and I want to convince you that it is, then you need to understand that your business will require some executives to make the best decisions for the future of the business-your life. I’m sure you’ve probably never thought about it that way, right? I understand because that’s “normal”. Ordinary people don’t view their life as the one business they truly own. It might sound simple and you are probably thinking that you (and your spouse) are the decision makers. This too is normal and you should know how I feel about normal; it doesn’t work.
An Adult Makes Their Own Decisions?
Let me tell you about yourself. So, you thought being an adult meant we get to make our own decisions. If that’s true and for most it is, have you noticed how that’s working out for the majority? What’s “normal” isn’t working like I desire. I don’t want a “normal” life nor a “normal” family. How about you? I want more, so I’ve been searching for ways in which to do that. That’s what I wish to share with you today.
Who’s responsible for our family?
Who’s responsible for my life? Me? Well, I think I’m going to need some help with this. I have had a front row seat to see exactly what happens when I’m left alone, to myself. My life (my family) is too important to be left only in my hands. Face it, we all need help, advice, guidance, support and coaching from time to time. It’s my job to be the coach. I want to take what you have and who you are and make it work better. Who’s responsible; ultimately you are.
Responsible or responsibility doesn’t mean who’s lord and slave. It doesn’t even mean you have to do it all yourself. A wise man once told me that responsibility simple means having a response in every situation. You don’t have to have all the answers, just one will do. I have a network of people to help me respond to the situations that arise in my life, my family, my business. It’s these networks that have helped me shape my life/business in the way I desire. Life’s just not happening any longer, it’s beginning to go the way we’ve designed. Now it’s your turn to do the same.
You have the final say.
At the end of the day, it’s Pamela and I who have the final decision. We’ve decided that life’s too short and too precious to do it alone. We have pastors, mentors, overseers, (most recently) a mastermind group and a small group to help us execute our life. I bet you would like to know how these groups work…you’re going to have to stay with me over the next couple weeks. In the meanwhile, send me your questions. Leave a comment on my website.
Today is Friday!
I’d like to leave you with this takeaway. Begin to think of the people in your life that could qualify as your pastor(s), your mentor(s), your life’s overseer(s) and your small group. Take a moment and jot them down. Share my webpage link (kerryaclark.com/who-are-the-decision-makers-in-your-home) with them and say why.
