{"id":1258,"date":"2017-08-11T03:00:08","date_gmt":"2017-08-11T08:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/?p=1258"},"modified":"2018-07-16T14:11:24","modified_gmt":"2018-07-16T19:11:24","slug":"living-on-the-leftovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/living-on-the-leftovers\/","title":{"rendered":"Tired of Living on the Leftovers?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/familyplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Family Plan<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we spend a lot of time and have more content in the financial section than any other. \u00a0The reason being, finances touch all parts. \u00a0Your financial position plays a huge role in how you handle the other departments you have in the business called &#8220;your life&#8221;. \u00a0In this post, I want to talk about expenses, but from a banking standpoint. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You&#8217;ll agree, especially if you study your finances (and you should), that there are several categories where your money falls. \u00a0Your income flows outwardly into several categories including, but not limited to, the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expenses<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Debts<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Retirement<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Personal or miscellaneous.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/familyplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Family Plan<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you plan for your money. \u00a0You decide what should happen and not let outside circumstance decide for you. \u00a0<em>BTW &#8211; planning is not for the average person.<\/em> \u00a0Most, 51% or better, live life without a plan and you can see for yourself where that gets them. \u00a0As for those reading this, begin working on your plan and let me add value where I can. \u00a0I&#8217;m going to outline just one solution on managing your &#8220;bill&#8221; money, your expenses; keep in mind there are more out there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1303\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kerryaclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers--400x400.png?resize=400%2C400\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers-.png?resize=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers-.png?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers-.png?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers-.png?resize=600%2C600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers-.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers-.png?resize=768%2C768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/20170811-TIF-SM-Tired-of-Living-on-the-Leftovers-.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>Segment Your Expenses<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many years ago, Pamela and I decided our bills were out of control. \u00a0Many times we had bills crossing with the checks in the mail. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.ec\/Tcc06\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tweet me<\/a> by clicking <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.ec\/Tcc06\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here <\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if you know what I mean. \u00a0More about that later, but for now let me tell you about how we separated our &#8220;bill&#8221; money from the rest of the money. \u00a0We found out there were no limits to the number of bank accounts or banks you could have. \u00a0Not only that but, our company&#8217;s payroll systems allow for multiple direct deposits. \u00a0With that, we were\u00a0able to set different amounts to be deposited into different accounts. \u00a0Amazing, isn&#8217;t it? \u00a0So we decided to add up our monthly expenses. \u00a0Next, divide it by the number of pay-periods and have that deposited into an account we opened. \u00a0We called it our &#8220;bill&#8221; or &#8220;expense&#8221; account. \u00a0This separation was the best idea we ever had. \u00a0Not? \u00a0We got this from prayer as we prayed over what step we should take to get our money under control. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now we have an account that has our expense money separated and the rest was what belonged to us to spend. \u00a0#BillsFirst. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a little something extra, this included our <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/plan-to-be-generous\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tithe<\/a>. \u00a0We treat <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/plan-to-be-generous\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tithing<\/a> like an expense with one exception; it&#8217;s always first.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong>Learn to Live on the Leftovers<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I don&#8217;t really mean learn to live on the leftover. \u00a0I really mean all you have to work with for yourself is the leftovers. \u00a0With that in mind you need to learn how to manage the expenses-your bills, so that they&#8217;re not increasing, but you&#8217;re finding ways to decrease your expenses. \u00a0In this way, you put more back into your pocket-the leftovers.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you get the leftovers, it will give you the drive to find ways to reduce the expenses which at first will be huge. \u00a0Because of this segmented account, you&#8217;ll soon find ways to rid yourself of the expenses you don&#8217;t really need so that you can have the life and money you desire. \u00a0Less expenses mean more money for you to do with as you please.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since you have a separate account for your expenses, you&#8217;ll need the same for everything else. \u00a0Pamela and I have our &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.simple.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Simple<\/a>&#8221; cards<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0This is where <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/an-allowance-may-solve-your-woes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">our allowance <\/a>goes. \u00a0Yes, we get an allowance. \u00a0The catch is&#8230;the spending from our allowance isn&#8217;t tracked because it&#8217;s not bill money and we can do whatever we please once we get our allowance. \u00a0Note: allowance distributions don&#8217;t occur until all expenses have been settled and budget reviewed. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.ec\/6Ip40\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tweet me<\/a> by clicking <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ctt.ec\/6Ip40\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a><\/strong> if you have a question you&#8217;d like to ask. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn to live not on the leftover, but for the leftovers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today is Friday!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have you heard the account of how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+6%3A30-44\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jesus feed the multitude of more than 4000<\/a>?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this story, he started with very little, not even enough to feed 2 men. \u00a0However, He took this meal, all He had, and did something with it. \u00a0He blessed what He had. \u00a0Seemingly, you should bless and be thankful for what you have. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He organized the recipients to which He needed to distribute what He had. \u00a0You will need to organize your recipients, the multitude of financial obligations you have, even if it means setting up different bank accounts. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, He began to distribute what He had. \u00a0You can then distribute what you have to meet your needs.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Lastly, He collected more leftovers from what started out as not enough. \u00a0You too will begin to collect more from paychecks that started out as not enough. \u00a0How?
