{"id":1428,"date":"2017-10-27T03:00:20","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T08:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/?p=1428"},"modified":"2017-11-08T11:16:25","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T17:16:25","slug":"on-paper-we-dont-have-enough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/on-paper-we-dont-have-enough\/","title":{"rendered":"On Paper We Don\u2019t Have Enough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/familyplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Family Plan<\/a> is nothing more than a way for a family or individual to resolve their problems.\u00a0 The goal is to resolve problems. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every person and every family is different; that means no family\u2019s problems will be the same. \u00a0We\u2019ve been discussing the <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/our-secrets-are-now-your-secrets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accounting\/fiscal department<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/familyplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the family plan<\/a> for several weeks and today we will discuss how to make your expenses more manageable. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve all found ourselves dealing with problematic expenses. \u00a0Maybe we\u2019ve gotten behind on paying the power-bill. \u00a0Do you know how difficult it is to get a bill back under control? Maybe you\u2019re recently married and you know the two of you together should be better off than the two of you separately. \u00a0It\u2019s funny that most couples think this way and still find themselves dealing with the same or more financial woes. \u00a0The reason why is because there wasn\u2019t a well defined plan. \u00a0I\u2019d like to tell you about how <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/about-pamela-kerry-a-clark\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pamela and I<\/a>\u00a0made a plan for our expenses and hopefully give you the motivation you need to plan for yours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1440 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kerryaclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough-400x400.png?resize=400%2C400\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough.png?resize=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough.png?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough.png?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough.png?resize=600%2C600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough.png?resize=768%2C768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/20171017-TIF-SM-On-Paper-We-Dont-Have-Enough.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>On Paper We Don\u2019t Have Enough<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We found ourselves in a bad situation. \u00a0We had more expenses than we had income. \u00a0Our ends weren\u2019t meeting. \u00a0Each month we found ourselves in the same situation and it created more and more problems. \u00a0Then one day we decided to do something about it. \u00a0We decided we\u2019d no longer live like this. \u00a0There are people out there who can pay their bills with no problems and we wanted to be one of them. \u00a0So our plan for our <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/our-secrets-are-now-your-secrets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accounting\/fiscal department<\/a> was to be able to pay our bills and have a little money left over as opposed to being short month after month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We sat down together and laid out everything we knew about our finances. \u00a0We took five steps, however I\u2019m only going to give you four:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>We listed every single expense we had.<\/strong> \u00a0This included those we were currently paying and ones we weren\u2019t. \u00a0Have any of you been there? \u00a0There are just some bills you can\u2019t get to because there\u2019s no more money. \u00a0\u00a0For example, we had student loan payments deferred. \u00a0Listen to what we did next.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>We separated the mandatory expenses from the non-essential expenses.<\/strong> \u00a0You can simply place an asterisk by the ones you must have. \u00a0Here are a few examples:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rent or mortgage<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Power<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gas<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water<br \/>\n<\/span>I don\u2019t think there are very many expenses that can be viewed as mandatory, things you just can\u2019t live without. \u00a0Once you\u2019ve done this, you can move on to the next step.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>We determined which non-essential expenses we could live without.<\/strong> \u00a0This would be everything else that\u2019s left on the list excluding already incurred debts. \u00a0Car payments may or may not fit into this category because you don\u2019t always need a car, especially if it\u2019s a second car or an expensive automobile. \u00a0Take a look at these non-essentials and find those that you can live without. \u00a0Examples of non-essentials include: lawn care services, mobile phone (if you\u2019re serious), cable TV, monthly subscriptions, private school tuition or daycare, and trash pick-up. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>We reviewed a few items that are neither mandatory or non-essential.<\/strong> \u00a0These are the debts that could create legal issues and other obligations that would create bigger financial issues like tax payments and child support.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#c7ced4;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#E1E8EE;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;border-color:#ffffff;color:#000000;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/familyplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Family Plan Binder<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/familyplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1025\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Family-Plan-Cover-e1493399146525.png?resize=115%2C149\" alt=\"\" width=\"115\" height=\"149\" \/><\/a> is available now! <p><\/p>\nOur team has worked very hard putting it together. We designed it to help you and your family move the needle forward in making your life your business. \nFind out more about the Family plan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/familyplan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here.<\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Executing The Plan<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gathering information and knowing whether they are mandatory or non-essential is great, but more important than that is using this intel to execute a plan. \u00a0Here\u2019s what we did with the information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Make the mandatory expenses the priority.<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Each month, we made it a priority to pay the mandatory expenses 1st. \u00a0They are the ones that no matter what, are a priority. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Get rid of as many non-essentials as you possibly can.<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0By the way, you really can\u2019t justify any of the non-essentials because they are not mandatory which means they\u2019re items you can truly live without. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Pay only the amount you owe for the month.<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Never pay what\u2019s in arrears. \u00a0Now is not the time to get caught up because we don\u2019t have enough to pay what we owe. \u00a0This process is called, \u201cstop the bleeding.\u201d \u00a0You don\u2019t want to get ahead of yourself. \u00a0Getting ahead of yourself doesn\u2019t make the situation better it only gets worse. \u00a0This is why a plan is so vital. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This was our plan, we got our bills to a place where we could at least pay them.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today is Friday!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first step to getting out of financial problems, isn\u2019t to cut up your credit cards. \u00a0It\u2019s to learn the discipline of how to pay your bills successfully. \u00a0Tell us how this post is helpful or what we could do to make it even more helpful.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Leave a comment below.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In our next post, we will share how to improve upon paying bills when you\u2019re able to now pay them all. \u00a0I mentioned earlier that we took <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">5 steps<\/span>, but I only gave you four, if you\u2019re interested in the 5th step, <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/5th-step-is-actually-the-1st-step\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Family Plan is nothing more than a way for a family or individual to resolve their problems.\u00a0 The goal is to resolve problems. \u00a0 Every person and every family is different;
