{"id":1622,"date":"2018-01-05T03:00:24","date_gmt":"2018-01-05T09:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/?p=1622"},"modified":"2018-09-05T18:24:37","modified_gmt":"2018-09-05T23:24:37","slug":"one-place-to-see-it-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/one-place-to-see-it-all\/","title":{"rendered":"One Place to See It All"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 5 Basic Financial Categories &#8211; Part 1<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since we\u2019re at the beginning of a new year, I thought I\u2019d try to add a little something that most don\u2019t cover related to setting financial goals and making financial resolutions. \u00a0In this article, I\u2019d like to discuss the tools and processes that make the goal of having better finances possible. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>One Place to See It All<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a couple problems we all run into when it comes to managing our finances: 1) not having a way to daily stay on top of it, and 2) no single place to see it all. \u00a0If I were to ask you, have all your bills for the month been paid and how many you have left, you\u2019d [like most] have to go rambling through stacks of bills and other paperwork to determine. \u00a0If I were to ask, how much money you have available for use, you\u2019d more than likely estimate or check the balance on a <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/banking-introduction\/\">bank account<\/a>. \u00a0The problem with this is there isn\u2019t an accurate way of knowing with certainty what\u2019s happening, but is there? \u00a0Today, I want to share with you one tool that can change the way to manage your finances. \u00a0This tool is called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/art-of-budgeting\/\">Mint<\/a>\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u00a0BTW &#8211; it\u2019s free and easy to use. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s discuss the process of seeing everything in one place. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s Everything?<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/art-of-budgeting\/\">Mint<\/a> provides a view of your finances in 5 categories:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Cash<\/span> &#8211; represents the money you have at your fingertips. \u00a0It\u2019s the funds you can easy and normally use. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Credit Cards<\/span> &#8211; highlight what you\u2019ve spent and are obligated to pay back. \u00a0Credit cards are like loans that you should be able to control. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Loans<\/span> &#8211; constitute the debts you repay within a certain length of time. \u00a0It\u2019s money borrowed with the intent of repaying over a lengthy period of time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Investments<\/span> &#8211; depict the money you have that\u2019s not easy to put your hands on. \u00a0It\u2019s those funds that have been somewhat locked away for a future date and time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Property<\/span> &#8211; reflects the value of property you own or the portion thereof. \u00a0This category is more important than you might realize. \u00a0It\u2019s the one that\u2019s not so easy to see and can be difficult to put your hands on.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/art-of-budgeting\/\">Mint<\/a> provides a process to be able to view these five categories all at once in a user-friendly interface. \u00a0While the categories sound like you might need a college degree to understand them, it\u2019s not the case.
