So we decided to do something about it. \u00a0In normal fashion we applied a \u201cyour life is your business\u201d method. We found the solution at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rent-A-Center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rent-A-Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/blog\/the-benefit-of-having-overseers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My brother<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> managed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rent-A-Center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rent-A-Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> location and hearing how their business model worked fascinated me. \u00a0Listen to this. Say you\u2019d like to purchase a washer and dryer combination and you don\u2019t have the $1800 you need to get the front-load washer you\u2019d like. \u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rent-A-Center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rent-A-Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> offers a service where you can rent to own for only $29 a week. \u00a0So you can get the set you desire for just $29 a week. You pay 29.99 for 130 weeks which brings your total to $3898.70. \u00a0You end up paying more than double the amount. While this works against you, this process isn\u2019t evil or bad, but ideal if you learn to use it in your favor. \u00a0Keep reading.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong>The Coming-from-behind Methods That Don\u2019t Work<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We tried coming from behind in two ways that just don\u2019t work.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Income tax return<\/strong><b>. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Did you know, no matter how much you get back on your income tax return, it\u2019s never enough? \u00a0It\u2019s never enough for all you have planned because normal people overestimate what they can do with what\u2019s in their hands.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Company bonus or raise.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0No matter how many raises or what that company bonus is, we find a way to spend it on something totally different than getting control of our bills. \u00a0We end up spending more than what we have in hand. In most cases we simply put a bandage on the problem if anything.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>How We Got Ahead on Our Bills<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now for what you\u2019ve been waiting on. \u00a0How we did it. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Write down your current rate.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Let\u2019s say your electric bill is roughly $300 a month. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Calculate a year\u2019s worth of payments.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Multiple the $300 by 12 to get the total for the year. \u00a0You pay around $3600 in a year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Decide how many months you\u2019re behind or desire to get ahead.<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0We will say that\u2019s just 1 month. \u00a0Now add 1 month to the annual total (3600+300=3900). \u00a0Your new total for the year now comes to $3900. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Divide by 12 months.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Divide this new yearly total ($3900) by 12 month and see your new payment of $325.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Pay just a few dollars more.<\/strong><b> \u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this example, pay $325 each month forward. \u00a0Instead of paying an extra $300 all at once, we\u2019re going to do like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rent-A-Center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rent-A-Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and pay just a small portion more. \u00a0You have to admit that an extra $25 is more manageable than $300 all at once. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following this process and applying it over a year will have you ahead or no longer behind in 12 months time. \u00a0The key is to find a way to begin today.
