Where Is Your Family Headed?<\/strong>
If your honest answer to that question is “I don’t know,”<\/em> then you’re normal\u2014but that doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. In fact, it’s not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It simply means you’re drifting through life, hoping everything turns out well. That’s like going on a trip with no destination in mind. You may see some interesting places along the way, but you’ll never truly arrive anywhere. And without knowing where you’re going, how will you know what to expect?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

When you travel, one of the most important things you need to know is the climate. You prepare differently for cold weather than you do for warm weather. You pack based on where you’re headed. Without a destination, there’s no way to know what you’ll need\u2014or how to prepare.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Your family works the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You Need a Destination\u2014Not a Comparison<\/strong>
Many families don’t have a direction of their own, so they borrow pieces of other people’s lives. Today, they want a house like the Joneses. Tomorrow, they want their children educated like the Smiths. The next day, they want to vacation like the Johnsons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what if you had your own map?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if you knew where you<\/em> wanted your family to end up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, you need your own family plan. You need your own roadmap\u2014one that puts your family on a course you’ve chosen, not one you’ve copied. When you have a roadmap, you don’t just end up with a life you get<\/em>\u2014you build a life you want<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where Are You Headed?<\/strong>
Without a plan or direction, you and your family are headed nowhere\u2014at least nowhere you ever intended. You’ll be like millions of others who simply exist, hoping that one day their ship will come in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve talked to a lot of people, and I’ve yet to meet anyone whose ship just magically arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I have<\/em> seen are people who dramatically altered the course of their lives by focusing on a defined plan. Their success wasn’t accidental\u2014it was intentional. After seeing that enough times, I decided I wanted the same thing. And I want that for you as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I’ll ask again: Where is your family headed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Power of Writing It Down<\/strong>
There’s a simple process we’ve all heard before\u2014but often dismiss because it sounds too simple: write your plans down.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll be honest\u2014I used to hate words like goals, plans, and priorities. I had a very common perception of them. I thought about them the same way everyone else did. But when I started thinking differently, my results changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the next few weeks, I’ll introduce new ways of thinking about planning and direction\u2014ideas that can transform a regular existence into something much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, start here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Begin thinking about where you<\/em> are headed and where your family<\/em> is headed. Let that question become a point of conversation in your home this week. This step alone\u2014having a shared discussion about direction\u2014has the power to re-ignite marriages, restore alignment, and begin healing families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direction doesn’t happen by accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It happens when someone decides to take a direct course of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it starts by answering one simple question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where are we going?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
