{"id":2217,"date":"2018-12-14T03:00:46","date_gmt":"2018-12-14T09:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/?p=2217"},"modified":"2018-12-14T00:26:08","modified_gmt":"2018-12-14T06:26:08","slug":"safe-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/safe-place\/","title":{"rendered":"The \u201cSafe\u201d Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Office Called Home &#8211; Part 6<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where are your important docs? \u00a0Do you have your important documents in a \u201csafe\u201d place?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Defining important documents.<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s define important documents. \u00a0Here are a few items we\u2019ve defined as \u201csafe\u201d worthy:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Birth certificates. \u00a0I wanted to say if you have children you need a place to keep their important records like their birth certificate. \u00a0As I think about it, you need a place to store yours. Truth be told, because I am my mom\u2019s child, she knows I will keep them \u201csafe\u201d. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As one who\u2019s had the honor of performing a number of wedding ceremonies, one of the practices we\u2019ve put in place is to request two official copies of the certificates. \u00a0This way we can keep and store a copy because just as this ceremony is important to the couple, it\u2019s very important to Pamela and me, and we want to maintain its importance by keeping the marriage certificates \u201csafe\u201d.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Our safe has restrictions.<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You better believe it; our \u201csafe\u201d has restrictions. \u00a0Not everyone can go in our \u201csafe\u201d. For certain private reasons, this safe is off limits to family members until I\u2019m dead. \u00a0That\u2019s the rule, you can\u2019t look in this until I\u2019m dead. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This created a problem once&#8230;we had left our Alabama tickets at home and needed someone to meet us with them. \u00a0These valuable items (smiley) are kept in the safe. We had to then figure out which of our children (who were home with us then) could I trust to go into the safe without being too nosy. \u00a0What a time we had talking about this incident for years to come. The point is the safe has rules and not everyone needs access to your most important of documents.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>The gift of a safe<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the gifts Pamela and I give to our (children), close adult family members when they\u2019re married or on their own, is a safe. \u00a0We remind them that they need a place for their important information and we start them out with their 1st safe. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today is Friday!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re looking for a good housewarming gift, purchase a safe. \u00a0Everyone could use a place to store their important information. Your action item for the day is to go get a safe if you don\u2019t have one. \u00a0Lock your important documents away, store them, and let someone you trust know where and how to gain access.
