When you overlook that, you unintentionally move toward selfishness instead of unity.

As you review your goals, look for two things:

1. Goals That Align
These are the easiest to achieve together. When you see them, you’ll naturally think, we can do this.

2. Goals That Don’t Align
These are the ones that require effort.
One person may want one lifestyle, the other something completely different. These aren’t impossible—but they require planning, communication, and creativity.

The goal is not to eliminate differences. The goal is learning how to align goals in a relationship and build a life that supports both people.

You Both Have Family Goals

Here’s what most couples miss:
Each person brings a separate set of family goals—and often has no idea what the other’s are.
Instead of assuming, combine them.
Create one shared list. This becomes the foundation for your values and the direction of your life together. This is where intentional marriage planning begins.
And remember—goals can change. Adjust them as you grow.

Everything Requires a Plan
Everything in life requires a plan.
If there is no plan, there is already a plan for failure.
Marriage is no different.
When you align your personal and family goals, you begin shaping the people you want to become together. You don’t abandon your dreams when you get married—you expand them.
Your partner should help you become your best—and that starts with your goals.

From Here to There: Planning Your Marriage

The fastest way from one place to another is a straight line.
The same is true in marriage.
Your goals represent your destination.
Your current situation is your starting point.
To succeed, you must define both.

Point 1 — Your Starting Point
Where are you right now? What do you currently have in place that impacts your goals?
Clarity here determines direction.

Point 2 — Your Destination
What kind of life and marriage do you want?

Once both points are clear, you can begin mapping out how to get there. This is how you begin how to build a marriage plan that lasts.

Projects Build Strong Marriages

Strong couples are always building something together.
When you’re focused on shared goals, you’re less distracted by things that pull you apart.
