{"id":725,"date":"2017-01-27T03:00:47","date_gmt":"2017-01-27T09:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/?p=725"},"modified":"2017-05-31T17:58:48","modified_gmt":"2017-05-31T22:58:48","slug":"mental-fitness-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/mental-fitness-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Soul Needs a Mental Fitness Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Three Fitness Plans You Don\u2019t Want to Live Without \u2013 Part\u00a02<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In part one\u00a0of <a href=\"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/physical-fitness-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Three Fitness Plans You Don&#8217;t Want to Live Without<\/a>, we discussed how our body needs a physical fitness plan. \u00a0In this post we pick up with the second fitness plan that you don&#8217;t want to neglect.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong>A Mental Fitness Plan<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mental health isn&#8217;t mentioned as often as physical health, but I would say it&#8217;s just as important, if not more important. \u00a0When you are mentally healthy, it\u2019s easier to become physically healthy. \u00a0So what does a mental fitness plan look like? \u00a0Well, I am not really sure but I can tell you about ours.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A couple years ago, I said to Pamela, I am no longer going to church. \u00a0Surprised? \u00a0Don&#8217;t be; we attend service every Sunday, it&#8217;s the most important piece to our mental (soul) fitness plan. \u00a0So what did I mean by not going to church? \u00a0Well, we started treating each Sunday service like a conference or seminar, you know like the ones you pay to attend. \u00a0We never leave without having several take away items that can be applied to our life-our business. \u00a0We stopped going just to say we attend, but we now attend to get something out of each service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong>The Unseen Benefit of Church<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The best thing about church is that the topics are always changing. \u00a0It&#8217;s the one place you can go and learn just about anything, given enough time. \u00a0You should take advantage of what your church has to offer you and your family.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-727 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kerryaclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan-400x400.png?resize=400%2C400\" alt=\"20170127 TIF SM - Our Soul Needs a Mental Fitness Plan\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan.png?resize=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan.png?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan.png?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan.png?resize=600%2C600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan.png?resize=768%2C768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/20170127-TIF-SM-Our-Soul-Needs-a-Mental-Fitness-Plan.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Mental Fitness Equipment<\/strong><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course going to church is just one of the tools in our mental fitness plan. \u00a0We have others: Bible plans, podcasts, books and blogs. \u00a0I&#8217;ll briefly share a little about each:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Bible plans.<\/strong> \u00a0Using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youversion.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouVersion Bible App<\/a> (a.k.a. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bible.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Bible App<\/a>), we, at the beginning of each year, select a Bible plan. \u00a0Most of them are usually one-year Bible plans where you read through the entire Bible in a year. \u00a0If you&#8217;ve never done this, you should if you want to get the most out of your Christian experience. \u00a0\u00a0Pamela and I don&#8217;t read the same plans, they differ because our personal mental fitness goals differ.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Podcast.<\/strong> \u00a0Pamela&#8217;s not much on podcasts, but I love them. \u00a0I have certain ones that I listen to each week during my commute. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.life.church\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Life.church<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joelosteen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joel Osteen<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/johnmaxwellteam.com\/minute-with-maxwell\/signup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A Minute with Maxwell<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelhyatt.com\/thisisyourlife\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This is Your Life with Michael Hyatt<\/a> are a must listen-to for me each week. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Books.<\/strong> \u00a0We both have improved our appetite to consume books. \u00a0Pamela likes books that keep her attention. Me on the other hand, I have several reading habits. \u00a0For my commutes, I listen to audiobooks, at home I read from physical books, and in my office I read leadership books with a one-page-a-day reading rule. \u00a0As you can see, there&#8217;s a plan and we want you to develop your plans.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Blogs and internet research.<\/strong> \u00a0Last but certainly not least are blogs and internet research. \u00a0We use the internet as a tool. \u00a0If you haven&#8217;t discovered yet, it&#8217;s not just for games, videos and social media. \u00a0It&#8217;s a great way to increase your mental capacity. \u00a0For me I follow blog sites that interest me and Pamela, she loves researching. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t matter what the topic.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that we&#8217;ve reviewed five of our most helpful tools to stay mentally fit, it&#8217;s your turn to either: a) develop your own plan or b.) tell us how you stay mentally sharp. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today is Friday!<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What does having a mental fitness plan make happen for you? \u00a0While I didn&#8217;t talk much about it, what&#8217;s the purpose for your mental fitness? \u00a0Maybe you want to learn a new skill or improve in an area. \u00a0Leave us a comment.<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In my next post, we will discuss the last fitness plan you don&#8217;t want to live without, a plan you&#8217;ve heard the least about.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Three Fitness Plans You Don\u2019t Want to Live Without \u2013 Part\u00a02 In part one\u00a0of The Three Fitness Plans You Don&#8217;t Want to Live Without, we discussed how our body needs a physical fitness plan. \u00a0In this post we pick up with the second fitness plan that you don&#8217;t want to neglect.
