{"id":919,"date":"2017-03-24T03:00:06","date_gmt":"2017-03-24T08:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kerryaclark.com\/?p=919"},"modified":"2019-08-14T11:48:40","modified_gmt":"2019-08-14T16:48:40","slug":"play-to-your-strengths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/play-to-your-strengths\/","title":{"rendered":"Play to Your Strengths"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vision: The Purpose for My Life &#8211; Part<\/strong> <strong>5<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In creating your own family plan, a key ingredient is knowing what you&#8217;re good at doing. \u00a0Everything in your plan, works together to make you who you are. \u00a0If you can see these pieces in a book (or in this case a binder) then you are able to see into yourself and even who you will eventually become. \u00a0This is one of the major reasons Pamela and I have a plan. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Recently, she was planning our vacation and I (as usual) wasn&#8217;t cooperating due to the estimates. \u00a0She became frustrated and passed the task over to me to plan. \u00a0Days later, she went right back to work on the project. \u00a0So I asked what happened as I thought she was done planning and it was up to me to make it happen. \u00a0Her response was simply this, it&#8217;s a part or our family plan to have our very own retreat. \u00a0It&#8217;s an important part of what we do. \u00a0While this example, is off my topic for today, it illustrates how having a plan keeps you on point.<\/p>\n<p><b><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-925\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kerryaclark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5-400x400.png?resize=400%2C400\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5.png?resize=400%2C400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5.png?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5.png?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5.png?resize=600%2C600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5.png?resize=768%2C768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kerryaclark.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/20170324-TIF-SM-The-Purpose-for-My-Life-Part-5.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>What are you good at doing?<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no better question to get you prepared for a plan. \u00a0In order to plan and schedule for your gifts and talents, you need to first know what they are. \u00a0For me, years ago I went on this journey. \u00a0What am I good at doing? \u00a0So I challenged myself to put into a sentence or less, what I thought to be my gift. \u00a0From there I found two words that summarize who I am: simple and organized. \u00a0I like to make things as simple as possible and my gift is organization. \u00a0I know how to turn chaos \u00a0into order. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Play to Your Strengths<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You see my gift is ingrained in me. \u00a0I don&#8217;t believe anything has to be complicated in its smallest pieces. \u00a0Overall, a process might be complicated, but once you break it down into small organized pieces, it becomes simple. \u00a0To help me keep all the pieces working together, my world must be organized. \u00a0I have processes and systems for this. \u00a0Enough about what my gift is. \u00a0What you need to know next is how it fits into my life. \u00a0I use this when I write and in every phase of my career, home and life. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Since I know my gifts, or what some call my strengths, I play to those and fit them into my world.
