It’s the playlist that sets the atmosphere for prayer and builds the habit for making this a daily practice.

Prep Time
Think of it this way…if you pray while you prepare for your day, do you know how many prayer-hours you’ll have logged in a given year? I know…more than you have today and more than you had last year. Since we take baths in the morning, we have plenty of time for prayer. We’re praying during the entire process…while in the shower, while drying off, while lotioning our bodies and so on. It takes about an hour for us to prepare for the day as prayer can tend to slow you down a bit, but we have this time built into our schedules.

Because we take prayer very seriously, I am very prepared. On our vanity, sits a few items: 1) my phone turned to my Evernote app which contains every note I need, 2) our family plan binder turned to the next page of the plan, 3) our prayer list of people requesting prayer and 4) one card with the name of a person in our small group. Each day, we use these resources for our meeting with God, our CEO.

Meeting With Our CEO
We call our morning prayer our daily meeting with God, our CEO, about our lives. This thought was born many years ago when we asked this question, “what do we pray when we run out of things to pray?” You have to admit that there can be times where you “so call” run out of things to pray about. If you’re like most, truth be told, you only run out of words to say. Five minutes in and you find yourself with nothing more to say to God. This is a problem that no longer plagues us. We never finish a conversation with God. We always run out of time before we run out of material. You see, since God can impact and change everything we have, we want to make sure we place everything we can before Him which is a major reason we started a Family Plan in the 1st place. And I’ll pause here to encourage you to do the same. Prayer is the time that you choose to meet with God, the CEO of your life. If you’ve made the decision to be a follower of Christ, then that’s exactly what being one is, allowing God to be in charge of your life. You see, your life is not your own, it’s His. So what you do with your life, must be accounted for. We chose to give account everyday, so that He can give us the guidance and direction we need to make the best lives we possibly can.

Why wouldn’t you want to meet with God to give an account? It just seems like the right thing to do. On your job, you give account to a boss. In your family, you account to family members. In school, you give account to the teacher. On the team, you give account to the coach. In life, you give account to God! Prayer should be the 1st meeting you attend everyday. Set an appointment to meet with the CEO every day.

In our next post, we will continue with what our prayer goals are when we meet with God. You will not want to miss this post.

Today is Friday!
What if your life had a boss who instructed you daily?
