If the Door is Open, Then It’s Time to Lead
2 Steps In Opening the Door to Leadership
As a person thinks in their mind, it produces who they are. The more you place in your mind, the more you become. When you place leadership in your mind, you produce leadership in your life.
Let’s take the two necessary actions to adapt and increase our expectations, using them to lead better.
1) Start in your mind.
We have to learn how to do better, and what’s in your head, what’s in your mind. The proverb says, “As a person thinks in their heart, so is he.” This principle plays itself out in everything we do. Our thoughts shape the outcomes we experience. What you have currently experienced reflects your past thinking. What you’re going to experience can be changed by your thoughts, but what you have currently experienced is proof of what you’ve already been thinking. That’s how I see it.

Your current status is proof of what you thought up until yesterday. Today’s thoughts are what I want to change, so that you can go to the next level. Once a shift in your thinking occurs, your life transforms, your capacity to lead evolves, and everything about you changes. This transformation can happen simply by altering one thought that differs from any of your previous thoughts. Start with getting your mind right, and then proceed to step 2.
2) Walk Through Your Open Doors.
When there are opportunities, I call them open doors—the term “opportunity” used to confuse me because I didn’t fully understand what it meant. However, I came to realize that the doors that swing open for me are the easiest ones to walk through. The places that I can access are the open doors. To make the most significant impact on the lives of others, it’s essential to learn how to identify and define the open doors in your own life.
For a long time, I tried to walk through doors that weren’t opened for me. That’s the biggest error, the biggest mistake that a person who’s trying to become a next-level individual will ever face: attempting to force open a door that’s closed or closed to you.
The key to becoming the best leader you can be, or even starting your leadership journey, is to walk through the doors that are already open to you. Your open doors are the ones that provide you with access and an opportunity to make a difference.
