The Ceremony and Beyond

Your Wedding Day is Just the Beginning

Putting It All Together – Part 1

What does your ideal wedding day look like? What does your ideal marriage look like? For our next lesson, we will need to answer these questions. What the average person doesn’t do is sit down and give some dedicated thought to what one wants one’s wedding day to look like. The next step, which is more important than the day you say “I do”, is to give some thought to how everyday life as a wife and husband will look. It’s in this type of thinking which will help you create an image of who you wish to become together.

Putting it all together.
You heard the phrase, “tying the knot.” But have you asked the question, what’s the knot? We call this putting it all together for the day that changes your life forever. In other words, the day that changes your life moving forward. We’re preparing for your wedding day and beyond. Preparing takes planning.

Therefore don’t forget to take as much time as you can to sit down together and talk through your plans and ideas. You don’t want this date to close in on you and you short yourselves or shoot yourself in the foot. Take this moment to walk through the days leading up through the events. Talk out every thing, every detail you wish to incorporate and make certain you have a plan in place.

While this is something only you can do, you must do it yourself. As for this final session, we have a few pieces of the puzzle we’d like to add to make your picture complete.

“Through wisdom a house [a home, a life, a marriage, a family] is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.” [1]

  • Before the Ceremony
In building a house, a blueprint of what you want it to look like is needed. Have you created the blueprint for one of the biggest and best moments of your life? Do you have a blueprint for life beyond the ceremony? Pamela and I like to think of it this way; while your wedding day is a big event, it doesn’t have to be your last or greatest event. It’s the first one you get to do together. Use your wedding ceremony as a model to create future events that the two of you will put together. Your wedding or tying the knot, isn’t just a ceremony it’s the life you will begin, starting with a ceremony. The “Wedding” is exciting when you as a couple can work together to make great things happen.
  • The Ceremony.
Like building a house, the ceremony needs a plan. Pamela and I have customized a few ceremony themes to make this day special not only for you, but for all those who will be a part of it to celebrate you. These themes are examples on how a couple can tailor their ceremony to mirror who they are and are becoming.
  • After the ceremony.
As it goes in building a house, it takes a blueprint to create a life together. It needs your wisdom, your understanding, and your knowledge. After the ceremony and the celebration, it’s easy to return to a mundane life, but when you have a plan for where you desire to go together, everyday is an adventure just like your wedding day. With a plan, you need not worry much about having a mundane life, but rather one that’s fulfilling for you and your spouse.

Through this lesson, Pamela and I want to focus on what will make your wedding day the best ever and last for the rest of your lives together. In order to have an uncommon marriage, you must do what an ordinary person is not willing to do, make a plan and live by it.

Question: what can you and your significant other do differently today that you’ve not seen nor heard others do?
