DIY Home Planning – Part 2
What challenges can you expect to overcome by having your own DIY plan for your home?
In our last web-post, we introduced you to the DIY Home Improvement Plan, but in this installment we need to help you understand why. Why this plan can aid your life and why you can’t live without it? Let’s begin.
Our Challenges:
- Challenge 1: Forgetting what you intended.
Have you and your spouse ever sat down in a room of your home and in general discussion mentioned what you’d like to do with that room? And months or even years later, you’d forgotten or remembered what you had intended to do? This is reason number one as to why we created a DIY home plan.
Pamela and I would often have discussions regarding what we wanted to add, update or improve in areas of our home. Unfortunately, time would pass and we’d have forgotten what we wanted to do.
- Challenge 2: No place to reference our plans.
We found ourselves not knowing what to do with what we had discussed. Even if we’d written it down, we’d forget where it was located. If I’d stored in my notes, then not everyone (namely Pamela) wouldn’t have access to the notes. The purpose of our Family Plan [insert link] is so that the family has access to the plans we’ve made, specifically for this web-post, the plans for our home. We needed a place that would be central to all members of the family and could store our collective ideas and plans.
- Challenge 3: Making the wrong home improvement projects a priority.
How can you make a good decision about anything if you don’t have all the possible options in front of you. This was one of our major problems. We’d start working on a project and fail to think about the prerequisite projects. Then, we knew we had changes and updates we wanted to make all over; however it’s difficult to pick a place to decide where to start when you don’t have a list to evaluate. No list could mean we would start working on the wrong areas.
- Challenge 4: Losing time.
This last challenge might be the most costly one of all. It’s losing time. One-two-three or more years might have already passed and you’ve not done a single thing. We’ve had all these great intentions and years passed, but we weren’t any closer to completing any of the changes we desired. When you don’t have a plan, you plan to lose time and that’s a guarantee.
Today is Friday!
Now that you have the big 4 challenges that led us to establishing our DIY home plan, when will you begin yours? There’s no reason to fall prey to any of the challenges we’ve mentioned when we know all it takes is a plan.
