Vision: The Purpose for My Life-My Business – Part 1
If your life is your business, how are you doing with running your business-Me Incorporated? Whether you realize it or not, you have been given something very precious, “a life” and it’s up to you to determine what that “life” produces. I like to think of your life as the business you’re running. In the last several posts, we’ve discussed who influences this business. In other words, we’ve laid out the people who make up our executive team. They are the people who help us execute the best life we possibly can. If you don’t have one, I recommend you review the last several posts and get one.
What we didn’t talk about or barely scratched the surface in our discussion was “the what” are we executing and why? “What” is the purpose for my life, my business? Now this is the fun part. You need to know why your business exists. It’s said that “God has plans for you.” If that’s the case, what are those plans? This means what’s in store for you.
Imagine your future
Those plans start with what’s been sitting down on the inside of you. Here’s a question that will help you uncover it. What does your future look like? If you’re like most (normal), the answer is I don’t know. For me and others who are unlike most (uncommon), we know what our future looks like, because we’ve created a map. And I’m trying to help you create your map. It’s called The Family Plan. Imagining your future can be fun once you get past the “IDK” stage. IDK-I Don’t Know. Let me preach to you for a minute-to those of you who are still saying “I don’t know” what my future will be like. Here’s a quote from the Bible that says if you don’t know your future then your life, your business, won’t accomplish much.
“Where there is no vision [focus, attention, or forethought], the people perish [in the area of no vision]…”
If you can’t see yourself getting that degree, then your life will perish in getting the degree.
If you can’t see yourself working through the relationship issues, then your life will perish in the relationship arena.
If you can’t see yourself becoming a professional, your life will perish when it comes to becoming that professional.
Imagine your future! Just as you imagined a future that isn’t bright, you can imagine a future that is. Stop imagining you can’t own that home and start imagining that you can.
Everything we ever accomplish starts with seeing our future
Think of anything you’ve ever accomplished. I bet you could see yourself doing it. When you graduated from high school, you first saw yourself wearing the cap and gown long before you got your own. When you saw the class that graduated before you, you said to yourself, next year that will be me. You saw your future. Your life, your business requires something called “vision.” It’s what all companies start with. It’s our ability to apply our sight to what we want and desire that doesn’t yet exist-it’s that stuff within us that comes from God. Now let’s get started.
Today is Friday!
Take some time this week to think about all the things that you’d like to accomplish and see in your life. Try to remove, get around, the IDK stage and begin using your imagination to create the best life you possibly can. Share your ideas with me, I’d love to be your sounding-board.
