What It Means to Be Quarantined This Good Friday?
Easter is not only the greatest celebration of our risen Lord that Christians have, it’s a time of fellowship, gatherings, and get-togethers. Unfortunately, due to the recent pandemic, there’s not much getting together or is there? People have turned to phone calls, video conferencing (& videotelephony), and social networks. Has the way we communicate changed and is it changing for us? We have alternative ways to connect with others while we’re quarantined. Quarantined? That’s a mouth full, but before I discuss that and what quarantine means, allow me to continue with a thought on our new age of communicating and the internet.
The Thought or Concept:
No one in the world saw this day coming, nor would any one desire such times, but (canceling that out) it does very little good complaining about what’s happened when the only thing we can do is adjust and make the best of what we have in front of us. I believe that’s exactly what’s happening via these new alternatives to socially connect. The world is turning to this medium as a primary way to communicate. That brings me to what that means for “Good Friday” and Easter weekend. Will you allow being self-quarantined (or forced quarantining) to keep you from celebrating the greatest day in all of history?
The one to be cleansed shall then wash his clothes and shave off all his hair and bathe in water and be clean. Now afterward, he may enter the camp, but he shall stay outside his tent for seven days. – bible.com/bible/100/LEV.14.8.NASB
The Practice:
Quarantine means to be isolated waiting on a fix. If we’re quarantined, then what’s the fix, who’s fixing you, and when is my fix coming? These three questions are what I’d like to address on this Good Friday. Before I continue, it might be helpful if you say this out loud, “today is Good-Friday!”
I’m Quarantined What’s My Fix?
In the computer world, when a file is quarantined it’s isolated to a holding place where it can’t do any other files and programs harm. In this way it can’t infect other files or contaminate other programs. While in quarantine the file undergoes a cleaning so that it can possibly be restored. It’s in quarantine that the infection is removed. In the same way, we’ve self-quarantined but have the thought that it’s everyone else who needs to be cleaned from infection when in fact it’s me who is in need of cleaning.
The fix is, while in your own quarantine, there’s some spring cleaning in your life, in your home, in your relationships, (your business) that needs to be done. That’s what this “Good Friday” will be for us, a moment to apply a fix to our lives that has gone overlooked so that we don’t continue to contaminate the world around us. What’s your fix?
I’m Quarantined Who’s Fixing Me?
Back to the information technology world, there are tons of virus protection software out there to help clean and protect your PC, but if you don’t install them or activate them they do no good. You can be aware that this protection for your computer exists but ignore it until your computer becomes infected.
In the same way your life, your home, your marriage, your family has become infected because you’ve not installed the virus protection software. “Good Friday” represents the best software available to help you keep your life clean and virus free. And since physical distancing has been invoked, thank God for the internet, so that this weekend you and your family can get plugged in and download life’s best virus protection software, Easter. Who’s fixing you?
I’m Quarantined When Is My Fix Coming?
While we await a fix for coronavirus, a better antivirus for your life is available, one that supersedes any problem you may have including COVID19. Fortunately, this fix is coming and being made available from every direction this weekend. Every Christian church on the planet is making this virus protection software available, but to answer the question of “when is my fix coming,” that’s on you. Even though a fix could be right in front of you, it’s totally up to your whether or not you install.
Being in quarantine means there is a problem, but it also means a fix is needed, a cleaning is needed. Quarantine is the perfect time for you to do your own cleaning. It’s a perfect time for you to do some planning. It’s a time for you to refocus on what your life, your business, is all about and how you will use it post-quarantine.
Today is Friday!
