God’s Bigger Than Evolution and Creation
Scattered Groups – Part 1
Pamela and I have a number of great friends in our circle. What we’ve concluded is this. Although our skin tones may differ, there’s very little else that does. In fact this series of writing was born out of a shameful discovery that we found ourselves in. One set of our friends, who happen to be “white” as we know it, taught us more about people, who we know as “black” than we had known being that we are considered “black.” For some time we wondered how could this be. Putting that aside we decided to become students not of race, but students of life. Allow me to stop here and encourage you (as a side-note) to find your subjects of interest and study them for yourself. Whatever it is you’re involved in and desire to know more about, study it for yourself. Become a student of life. That brings me to this next set of lessons we’re calling “Scattered Groups.”
For years, I have held arguments for the two thoughts on how mankind was created. One line of thinking is based on the creation story where God created the Heavens and the Earth. [1] The second line of thinking is based on evolution where man evolved from organisms that continued to evolve into mankind as we know it. I’m obviously oversimplifying this. This writing isn’t intended to be a history lesson, but a thought provoking lesson to help take our thoughts about God’s people to the next level. To do this we must be students of the information we need to know.
Have you ever wondered where these two concepts of human origin came from? What if there was another answer to this? What makes one man’s line of thinking more right than another’s? It all comes down to studying. Here’s what I learned from my own studies and why I want you to study for yourself. I don’t believe it’s a matter of either/or, but rather both. God created a mankind that can and has evolved over time. Via my studies there is solid proof as well as disproof evenly of both. This has led to some out of the box thinking, next level thinking, God-like thinking.
In this series, we will make this case using three points.
1 – Sapiens
The theory of evolution leads us to a word that defines the human species, Sapiens. From internet research and a book called, “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind,” I was able to see the connection of how evolution promotes the existence of the groups of people we find scattered around the world.
2- Scattering
From translated ancient Hebrew manuscripts and Bible history of the tower of Babel, I was able to see a connection based on how people naturally scatter due to social commonalities. This scattering which I like to refer to as natural scattering, shows us how people can separate into natural groupings.
3 – Adaptation
Now for the most important piece of this puzzle. Both theories put us in the very same place. From one location, people emerged and began to populate the earth. As a result they scattered, took on unique languages, and geography made it necessary for mankind’s God-given ability of adaptation to evolve. This process over thousands of years has created a world populated by one type of man that has become the people-groups we see today, God’s people.
Over the course of the next several installments, we will paint a picture that displays how God’s people not only naturally scatter into groups, but evolve within those groups to produce the gifts of people we see today.
Question: are you ready to not evolve physically, but mentally around this topic of people-groups?
