Today we get to interrupt our message on the family plan and it could not have come at a better time. We are in between topics which makes it easy to insert a special “Good Friday” message.
The Thought or Concept:
Most people have become familiar with “Black Friday” which is the day after Thanksgiving and a lot of shopping activity occurs, but what about “Good Friday”? What will you do with this day? How are you to benefit from “Good Friday?” Do you have plans for the day we all know as “Good Friday?”
Whether you are a person of faith or not, today is still “Good Friday” and instead of having an argument for or against this day, I’d like to think of ways we might benefit from it. How might “Good Friday” influence me to a better path for my life which is my business?
The Practice:
Stop declining.
Identify the problem areas in your life. Just as Jesus had broken, disconnected people on His mind to do for them what only He could, you too have to do the same in every area of your life. What broken areas are on your heart and in the back of your mind? Everything has a purpose and it’s in its purpose that helps one assess whether something is broken or malfunctioning. What around you has lost its purpose? Every house/home requires maintenance work, but the problem comes when you don’t see the issues that need addressing. Live in any home for any period of time and see how that house will need a few repairs. If ignored, these problems will grow and grow until they are out of control. Surely you want to avoid this. Easter is your reminder of how we should take a pause and reflect over what we have, so that we can put a stop to any decline we find in our lives.
Start rebuilding.
Restore, rebuild, and even replace the things that are broken, lost, or damaged. As you identify problems in your life, your home, your business, make a note of it. This is where the rebuilding process occurs; it starts with a plan. Easter represents a plan executed to save the world, to repair a broken creation, and to restore the relationship people once shared with God. In the same way, we must execute a plan for rebuilding and repairing the areas in our lives, home, business where we find damage, lack, and neglect. Begin a plan today to start the rebuilding process.
Stop doubting yourself.
Eliminate the distractions and noise that fight against the process. Anytime you attempt to do something big, doubt tries to creep in. Try to start a business, purchase a home, or write a book and see won’t doubt find a way to come in. When you have big hopes for your children, doubt will try to creep in. When you have big dreams for your career, somehow doubt finds a way into your thoughts. During this time it’s critically important to have a plan handy. Even when Jesus asked if the path He was on could be changed, He remembered the plan and said if it must be, let it be. You fight doubts by reminding yourself of the goal, the end results, and of the accomplishments already made in that direction.
Start living (again).
Enjoy the results from the work put in. Easter is the time that we celebrate the results that Christ gave us, the greatest victory ever. He gave us an example that even though something was dead, doesn’t mean it can’t live again. I’m a person who continues to drive and rarely take a moment to enjoy what’s been accomplished. Today, Good Friday, should be the day we take a breath, reflect on what we’ve gained, accomplished, and won. It’s time to live and enjoy living.
Today is Friday!
This isn’t just any ole Friday, it’s “Good Friday.” How is “Good Friday” good for you? How can you find the benefits in this day and its story? In order to have the life, the home, the business you desire you will have to learn how to take things from their dead state to an alive again state. How will you make the best of this moment, this Friday, this Good Friday?
